Mixed Berry Sorbet

Indulge in a vibrant and refreshing dessert with this Mixed Berry Sorbet—a delightful treat that’s as healthy as it is delicious. Made simply from frozen mixed berries, a touch of maple syrup, fresh lime juice, and a bit of warm water if needed, this recipe lets the natural flavours of the fruit shine while keeping things light and nutritious. Best of all, it’s completely dairy-free and contains no refined sugar, making it an excellent choice for anyone following a plant-based or health-conscious diet. No ice cream maker is required—you can whip up this sorbet in minutes using just a blender or food processor.

Health Benefits:

  • Rich in Antioxidants: Mixed berries (such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries) are packed with antioxidants like vitamin C and anthocyanins, which help protect your body from free radical damage and support a healthy immune system.
  • Naturally Sweetened: Using maple syrup instead of refined sugar provides sweetness with additional minerals, such as manganese and zinc, and has a lower glycemic index, which may aid in blood sugar regulation compared to traditional sugars.
  • Digestive Health: Berries are a great source of dietary fibre, which aids in healthy digestion and can contribute to feeling fuller for longer.
  • Vitamin Boost: A splash of lime juice not only brightens the flavour but adds an extra dose of vitamin C, which is essential for skin health and immune function.
  • Low in Calories: This sorbet is light and low in calories per serving, making it a guilt-free way to satisfy your sweet tooth.
  • Allergy-friendly: With no dairy, eggs, or gluten, this dessert is suitable for most dietary needs and preferences.

Enjoy a bowl of Mixed Berry Sorbet as a cooling treat on a warm day, a healthy dessert after dinner, or even a quick snack when you need a fruity pick-me-up. It’s the perfect way to savor the vibrant taste and health benefits of berries all year round!

Other Sorbet ideas:

Replace the mixed berries with the following ideas:
2 x mangoes – diced, seed removed or
4 x med peaches – sliced, pips removed or
3 1/2 cups of watermelon

If the fruit is not frozen, first lay it out on a baking paper-lined tray and freeze until solid (approximately 4 hours or overnight); then follow the process above. Note: Mangoes don’t need the maple syrup or dates, as they are sweet enough on their own.
